Hydra enjoyed its glory days in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, when the island was famous for its shipbuilders.

Now & Then

In 1935, Emmanuel N. Louzis, a veteran of the Great War and an apprentice to the previous owner, acquired the deed to the house—a construction originally built in 1825—and took over the commercial store that sold household fabrics.

Two years later in 1937, he married our grandmother, Margarita, and they went on to have three children between 1939 and 1945. Despite the turbulence of World War II, they thrived and lived a peaceful, deeply religious life until their deaths.

Their son, Georgios, continued to run the store until his own retirement.

Nowadays, with vibrant memories from warm summer days and nights at grandpa’s and grandma’s place, the residence is offered to you as it is cherished and remembered by our own selves: a safe haven for anyone seeking a peaceful retreat and a place filled with warm memories.

We hope that you too will create your own treasured memories during your stay, just as we have. Do not miss out reading also about the house architecture and cosmopolitan Hydra.
